United Kingdom

Ofqual

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications (Levels A1-C2) are regulated by Ofqual in the sector subject area “Languages, literature and culture of the British Isles”.

The qualifications reside in the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) from Entry Level 1 to 3 and Level 1 to 3, which maps to the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications. In addition, they map to the European Qualifications Framework, as portability is important to those looking for jobs or seeking to employ people from across the continent. UCAS

LanguageCert is available on the UCAS Apply list. UCAS Apply is a secure online application system that allows students to apply for full-time undergraduate courses, and some part-time courses for nursing and midwifery, at universities and colleges in the United Kingdom.

UCAS Apply includes LanguageCert as part of their listing (visible to applicants who have a UCAS profile) and students can select the following LanguageCert qualifications as part of their application process, as appropriate proof of English language skills.

  • LanguageCert Level 3 Certificate in ESOL International (Listening, Reading, Writing) (Mastery C2)
  • LanguageCert Level 3 Certificate in ESOL International (Speaking) (Mastery C2)

Czech Republic

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are recognised by the Czech Ministry of Education and are listed in the new STANDARDISED LANGUAGE EXAMINATIONS list, at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. The exams are listed in the new MMT 'MATURITA' list and are entitled to replace the so called 'optional part' of the leaving exam (Maturita) in English.

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are valid proof of English language proficiency for state/governmental employment. The required certification level depends on the particular position being applied for.

The qualifications are recognised by major universities in the Czech Republic. Due to varying recognition requirements, certificate holders should contact the university/faculty they are applying to for specific information.

France

Greece

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications have been recognised by ASEP (Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection) at levels Β1, Β2, C1 and C2.

The certificates are valid proof of English Language proficiency, which is a prerequisite for access to opportunities for employment in the Public Sector. They may also be accepted for admission to programmes at the Public Universities and Institutes of Higher Education across the country, as well as for employment at private organisations. However, certificate holders are advised to confirm with the organisation of their interest.

In order to comply with local regulatory requirements, LanguageCert International ESOL exams in Hungary have been adapted in the following way:

LanguageCert International ESOL Written and Spoken ESOL qualifications are recognised by the Accreditation Board for Foreign Language Examinations in Hungary at levels B1, B2 & C1, and meet the language requirements for:

• bonus points for admission into higher education
• graduation from college/university degrees
• graduation from select vocational training courses
• language allowance (salary supplement) for civil servants.

The level of recognition required depends on the requirements set by the individual education or government institution.

The Accreditation Board for Foreign Language Examinations is a department of the Ministry of Education, responsible for accrediting foreign language examinations in Hungary.

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are recognised in Italy by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR), at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.

The B2 level “Communicator” qualification is accepted for PON scholarships.

Latvia

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are recognised in Latvia by the Ministry of Education and Science, at levels B1, B2, C1 and C2. The exams are accepted as replacement of the Latvian Centralised Examination of a Foreign Language in the General Secondary Education Program, provided that the students hold a certificate at B1 level or above.

Lithuania

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are recognised in Lithuania by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, at levels B1, B2, C1 and C2. The exams are accepted as equivalent to the Lithuanian State Maturity Examination of English, provided that the students hold a certificate at B1 level or above.

New Zealand

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are officially recognised by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), which is responsible for accrediting foreign language qualifications in New Zealand, at levels B1, B2, C1 and C2.

From 22 August 2018, NZQA specify that all non-university providers must use an NZQA approved international test of English to assess the language proficiency of candidates. LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications reside on the NZQA approved list and the full list of changes is published on the NZQA website.

NZQA recognition means that LanguageCert qualifications meet admission requirements for education in New Zealand. Each educational programme level in New Zealand poses minimum qualification requirements. LanguageCert C1 certificates fulfill the (minimum) requirement for a Bachelor’s degree programme, while C1 with High Pass or C2 fulfil the requirement for postgraduate degrees (Bachelor Honours, Master’s and Doctoral). LanguageCert B1 and B2 certificates are accepted for admission to Certificate and Diploma programmes for lower levels in New Zealand’s education system.

The LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are recognised by major universities in Spain. Certificate holders should contact the university/faculty of interest to them for specific information, due to varying recognition status applying different universities. 

LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications are recognised by:

  • ACLES (Association of Language Centres in Higher Education) at levels A2, Β1, Β2, C1 and C2 
  • CRUE Universidades Españolas (Conference of Chancellors of the Spanish Universities) as valid certification for English at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 

Teachers who need to prove their linguistic competence in all four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) in English, in order to work in public schools in Spain, can make use of LanguageCert qualifications, provided that they hold both LanguageCert International ESOL Written (Listening, Reading, Writing) and Spoken (Speaking) certificates of the same level. LanguageCert International ESOL qualifications have been recognised by ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones (Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade)

France

LanguageCert USAL esPro qualifications have been recognised by the National Interprofessional Joint Committee for Employment and Vocational Training (COPANEF) at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 with CPF (Personal Training Account) code 209074. The CPF code can be used to undertake a COPANEF funded Spanish language training course, if it results in a LanguageCert USAL esPro certificate. The programme applies to people in all professional fields nationally.

LanguageCert USAL esPro qualifications have also been recognised by the Regional Interprofessional Joint Committee for Employment and Vocational Training (COPAREF) at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 with CPF codes 202316 and 202315, valid for people employed and professionals seeking employment respectively. The CPF codes can be used to undertake a COPAREF funded Spanish language training course, if it results in a LanguageCert USAL esPro certificate. The programme applies to people in all professional fields in the administrative region of Grand Est, in northeastern France.

Spain

LanguageCert USAL esPro qualifications are recognised by:

  • ACLES (Association of Language Centres in Higher Education) at levels A2, Β1, Β2, C1 and C2 as a valid certification of the Spanish language for access to all Spanish Universities. ACLES promotes learning and dissemination of modern languages in higher education, informing regional policy decision-makers.
  • CRUE Universidades Españolas (Conference of Chancellors of the Spanish Universities) and are included in the list of certifications accepted by Mesa de Certificación Lingüística para el Español como Lengua Extranjera (Accreditation Commission for Spanish as a Foreign Language) as proof of Spanish language proficiency. CRUE Universidades Españolas, as a non-profit association of 76 Universities in Spain (50 public and 26 private), is responsible for the accreditation of foreign language qualifications for post-secondary studies in Spain.

    LanguageCert USAL esPro is the exam of Spanish as a foreign language selected by the university accreditation platform CertiUni, a project promoted by CRUE for the certification of cross curricular competencies in the Spanish universities.

    LanguageCert USAL esPro certificates at B1 and B2 levels are the (minimum) entry credentials for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Spain respectively.
