The invigilator (proctor) will ask you to show it in order to ensure that it is blank on both sides. It must be shredded in front of the online invigilator (proctor) once the exam is over.
Written exam (available for LanguageCert International ESOL B1-C2): there is a two-way voice communication with the online invigilator (proctor). However, only the invigilator will be able to see you and your desktop during the Written exam. Please note that the communication is carried out in English.
Spoken exam (available only for LanguageCert International ESOL B1-C2): there is a two-way voice communication with the interlocutor and you will be able to see him/her.

The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is a guideline used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages across Europe and, increasingly, in other countries. LanguageCert Test of English (LTE) set of qualifications consist of reliable test content that assess listening and reading skills along with their awareness of lexico-grammatical structures.
The listening component assesses the candidate’s ability to listen for a wide variety of real-life and work-related purposes.
The reading component assesses the candidate’s ability to understand the main idea of a text or look for specific information or line of argument. Within the reading component assessment, the candidate will be also assessed with various lexico-grammatical items, which contributes to a profile which defines the candidate’s overall language ability.
The LTE qualification has been developed according to the CEFR descriptors of language competency for each CEFR level (A1-C2). For more detail, please refer to the LanguageCert Test of English Qualification Handbook.
There are no entry requirements prior to taking LangugeCert Test of English (LTE).
The LTE qualification comprises three different tests and is available in two formats:
The LTE A1-C2 computer-adaptive test lasts approximately 60 minutes. The content of each individual test is responsive to the language proficiency the test taker demonstrates as the test progresses. More specifically, the test adjusts in real time both the order and degree of difficulty of test items based on the test taker’s responses to previous questions. This ensures the accurate measurement of the test taker’s language competence whatever their proficiency level. Each test is individualised to the ability of the candidate taking the test.
As both formats lead to the same certificate, candidates should choose the format that best suits them.
The LTE A1-B1 paper-based test is suitable for test takers who need proof of a lower level competency in English, or absolute beginners who need to monitor their progress as they go, while the LTE A1-C2 paper-based test is most suitable for test takers who aim for B2 level and above.

There is no definite score to be attained in order to pass. All candidates receive a ‘Statement of Results’ and a Certificate which state the overall level achieved (e.g. ‘Level 1/CEFR B2’ or ‘Level 3/CEFR C2’) and a statement of results which also contains the score gained in each skill (Listening and Reading) which can be translated via the scaled scores table to an approximate CEFR level.
LanguageCert Test of English (LTE) qualifications are multi-purpose, they can be used internationally as school curriculum requirements, university entry and/or graduation, employment and career progression.
LTE tests are not pass-or-fail tests. Test results indicate proficiency levels in Listening & Reading and Writing in English.

The candidate will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
The Spoken exam involves interaction (short exchanges) between the candidate and the interlocutor and makes use of illustrated cards to stimulate the conversation.
The Speaking exam of Fox consists of 3 parts: the candidate is first asked a few questions about himself/herself. Then, he/she is provided with a picture card and is asked a number of questions about it. Finally, the candidate is presented with a scene card, is asked to focus on some objects on it and is asked a few questions about them.
The Speaking exam of Owl consists of 4 parts. Initially the candidate is asked a few questions about himself/herself. Then he/she is provided with a card and needs to answer a few questions about some objects on it. The third part requires the candidate to look at two similar pictures and spot their differences. Finally, he/she is provided with a scene card and asked to say as many things as he/she can about it (at least 7).
Listening Section: Candidates are awarded one mark per correct choice or response.
Reading Section: Candidates are awarded one mark per correct choice or response.
Writing Section: Candidates are awarded one mark per correct sentence. However, sentences need to be accurate and relevant. For each minor mistake (punctuation, spelling, etc.), half a mark is subtracted. In case a sentence is incomplete or irrelevant, no mark is awarded.
LanguageCert Young Learners ESOL Fox and Owl are exams specifically created for younger candidates and for that reason they are child-friendly exams with fun-tasks, age-appropriate topics and colorful illustrations.
The Listening section consists of multiple choice questions, items to be matched and answers to simple questions by providing a name or a number. All parts are heard twice.
The Reading section consists of tasks where candidates are asked to match words with pictures, answer Yes/No questions based on a picture, fill in gaps in short texts, and also answer simple questions about a given picture.
The Writing section consists of simple tasks where the candidate is asked to produce sentences about personal information and about a picture.
Candidates can allocate time as they wish for the Reading and the Writing section (i.e. start with the Reading and continue with the Writing component, or the other way round).
It is intended for non-native English language learners
The LanguageCert Young Learners Fox Written exam (Listening, Reading, Writing) has a duration of approximately 60 minutes and a duration of 5 minutes for the Speaking part.
The LanguageCert Young Learners Owl Written exam (Listening, Reading, Writing) has a duration of approximately 75 minutes and a duration of 7 minutes for the Speaking part.
Please note that the above durations are approximate.
The LanguageCert Young Learners Fox exam is approximately a pre-A1 level qualification.
The LanguageCert Young Learners Owl exam is approximately an A1 level qualification.
Much will depend on the maturity of the candidate and his/her level of preparation.
The LanguageCert International ESOL A1 Preliminary exam assesses candidates using familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases. Through focusing on familiar topics, the exam assesses the candidate's capability to interact in a simple way when addressed in a simplified manner. The duration of the Preliminary exam is 1 hour 40 minutes.
The LanguageCert Young Learners ESOL Owl exam, at approximately A1 level, has been created specifically for younger candidates and assesses them using child-friendly topics, fun-tasks and colourful illustration. Its duration is 60 minutes.
Paper-based version: all candidates take the same Paper-based test, regardless of their language proficiency.
Computed-based version: the questions adapt uniquely to the level of each candidate.
There is no ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’ mark, as all candidates receive a grade on a scale of 0 to 100.
No matter which testing version the candidates choose, they receive a certificate from A1 to C2 level depending on their performance, provided their score is 10 or above.
Please note that if a candidate’s score is between 0-9, the provisional results after finishing the Computer-based test will show a score of 0.

The overall score of the LanguageCert USAL esPro Listening & Reading test is not simply an average of the individual scores of each test section (Listening, Reading). It is calculated based on a specific scoring algorithm that identifies the candidate’s language competence, as each test section carries a different weight. For example, if the Listening score is 50 and the Reading score is 60, the overall score will not necessarily be 55.
After taking a LanguageCert USAL esPro test, candidates receive:
⃰ In the case of the Listening & Reading test, the candidate receives a Test Report presenting the overall score resulting from the combination of the two skills, as well as the separate scores of the two language skills.
In the Computer-based LanguageCert USAL esPro Listening & Reading test the candidate can view on screen a Provisional Test Score at the end of the test session, whereas the official results are released within 2 business days. In the case of the Paper-based LanguageCert USAL esPro Listening & Reading test, results are released 5 business days upon receipt of answer sheets for marking, whereas in the case of LanguageCert USAL esPro Writing and Speaking tests results are released 10 business days upon receipt of answer sheets for marking.

The LanguageCert USAL esPro Listening & Reading test is offered in both Paper and Computer-based versions for the schools/candidates’ convenience. Both versions are equivalent to one another. Therefore, no matter which version you choose, the same results will be produced, leading to a certificate depending on your performance. However, kindly note that the Computer-based test duration is significantly shorter than the Paper-based one.
